Since the counselling training program commenced in 1992 we have seen the hand of God markedly upon its development and amazing growth. Let’s never forget our Christian heritage – this is God’s plan, God’s work, with God’s anointing manifestly resting upon it.
We believe that the quality of the product we produce will also continue. It is this that places aifc at the forefront of Christian counselling in Australia today.
The main purpose of our courses is to restore, equip and mobilise individuals and families for the Great Commission – discipling nations. God’s will, as expressed to Abraham, is for all the families of the earth to be blessed (Genesis 12:3); as part of this great work, aifc is simply a servant of the local church. This is God’s work, not ours, and it’s thrilling to be part of something which He is prospering.
As we see by the three years the disciples spent with Jesus, training is essential if we are to be effective in ministry; and training in counselling is imperative, because intervening in the lives of others is a serious business. One of our favourite Bible passages is, “Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.” (Psalm 144:1).
An objective of aifc’s courses is to produce qualified counsellors and family therapists with a distinctly Christian worldview. Participants are personally mentored throughout the course, and attendance at training seminars is designed to cause minimal disruption to everyday life. The qualification offers excellent job opportunities.
