CHC42315 – Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care

Students can choose to undertake the Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care as a dual qualification starting with the CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling.

Incorporating a Christian worldview throughout, this course prepares you to work with people in need using established counselling and pastoral care skills, whilst considering theological, psychological and spiritual dimensions to people’s concerns. There is a deliberate focus on students’ personal and spiritual development and equipping as foundational before being able to help others.

The Certificate IV is nationally accredited, developed to agreed industry standards, and responsive to the current and future demand for chaplaincy and pastoral support within the local church and in the broader Australian society.

You will learn essential communication, micro-counselling, interviewing and intervention skills that will equip you to be an effective chaplain or pastoral carer in a number of settings, including faith communities, not-for-profit organisations, community health centres, education agencies and government departments.

As part of the CHC42315 Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care, students will be able to put the skills developed into practice by completing 100 hours in a pastoral care or chaplaincy setting under supervision.

In order to ensure an interactive, engaging, and active class experience, aifc has set a minimum enrollment requirement for Mid Year 2023. Students are encouraged to enrol and will be informed of any changes to the course progression.

Students are required to attend a certain percentage of seminar days based on your course progression, which will allow you to develop skills and work alongside other students in the aifc community.

The Friday is a student-focussed day, offering opportunities such as further practical skills practice, role play observations of relevant unit content, and the opportunity to join the aifc community.

The Saturday is ‘aifc community day’ open to current students, aifc alumni and the wider community. Subject matter expert, guest speakers and staff members, will share sessions and workshops relevant to our accredited courses training material and also as professional development for practicing counsellors.
